The building (circa 1890) a brownstone facade shows severe delamination and scaling over the entire face. Apron moulding dividing the third story is shown in poor condition. The decision to remake the profile and reinstall the moulding using Conproco’s
Matrix system is cost saving without sacrificing quality.

The remaining outcropping of moulding is chiseled flush to the building. Light hammer blows are used to prevent fracturing.

A profile is reproduced using an intact section of moulding taken from another part of the building. A matching profile is produced using 20 guage aluminum and sharpened slightly.

A 36 inch plywood box is constructed to accept the aluminum profile guage. Plaster of paris is poured into the box and the aluminum moulding profile is dragged across the plane until the negative or reversed profile is created. Larger mouldings may be difficult to handle and be unable to release from the mould.

After the mould has dried and a precise color formulation has been achieved using the matrix brownstone system the wet mix is packed into the mould box and allowed to setup for 24 hours.
